The fastest way to cancel Spotify Premium is through their website. Your Premium features stay active until the end of your current billing period, and your account reverts to the free tier after that.
1Go to Your Spotify Account
Open a web browser and navigate to spotify.com/account. You can do this from any computer or mobile browser.
2Sign In
Log in with the email address and password tied to your Spotify account. If you use social login (Facebook, Apple, or Google), select the corresponding sign-in option.
3Open Your Plan Settings
On the Account Overview page, scroll down to the Your plan section. Click Manage your plan to view your current subscription details and billing date.
4Select Change Plan
Click Change plan to see all available plan options. This is where Spotify lists its tiers, including the option to downgrade or cancel entirely.
5Cancel Your Plan
Scroll to the bottom of the plan options and select Cancel Premium. Spotify may offer you a discount or suggest a pause instead — skip these if you want to fully cancel. Confirm by clicking Yes, cancel.
6Verify the Cancellation
You should see a confirmation message stating when your Premium access ends. Spotify will also send a confirmation email to your registered address. Your Premium features remain available until the next billing date.
If you're the manager of a Family or Duo plan, canceling removes Premium for all members on the plan. Let everyone on the plan know before you cancel. Individual plan members cannot cancel the plan — only the plan manager can.
On the App Store (iOS)
If you subscribed to Spotify through the Apple App Store, you must cancel through Apple's subscription settings. The Spotify app and website cannot process the cancellation for you.
1Open iPhone Settings
Tap the Settings app on your iPhone or iPad. This is the gray gear icon found on your home screen.
2Tap Your Apple ID
At the top of the Settings menu, tap your name and Apple ID banner. This opens your Apple ID account management screen.
3Select Subscriptions
Tap Subscriptions from the list. You will see all active and expired subscriptions linked to your Apple ID.
4Select Spotify
Find Spotify in your list of active subscriptions and tap it. If Spotify does not appear here, your subscription is billed directly by Spotify, not Apple.
5Cancel the Subscription
Tap Cancel Subscription at the bottom of the screen and confirm when prompted. Your Spotify Premium access continues until the end of the current Apple billing cycle.
After canceling through Apple, your Spotify account is not deleted. It automatically switches to the free tier once the billing period ends. You keep all your playlists and saved music.
On Google Play (Android)
If you subscribed to Spotify through Google Play, you need to cancel through Google's subscription settings. Canceling inside the Spotify app or on the Spotify website will not stop Google Play billing.
Tap your profile icon in the top right corner of the Play Store to open the account menu.
3Go to Payments & Subscriptions
Select Payments & subscriptions from the menu, then tap Subscriptions. This displays all your active Google Play subscriptions.
4Select Spotify
Find Spotify in the subscriptions list and tap it. If Spotify is not listed, your billing is handled directly by Spotify or another provider.
5Cancel Your Subscription
Tap Cancel subscription and follow the on-screen prompts to confirm. Your Premium access remains active until the end of the current Google Play billing cycle.
If you subscribed through a mobile carrier or internet provider, neither Google Play nor Spotify can cancel it for you. Check your Payment settings page on Spotify for your provider's contact details and cancel through them directly.
Spotify Refund Policy
Spotify does not typically offer refunds for unused portions of a billing period. When you cancel, your Premium features remain active until the end of the current cycle, but you will not receive a prorated refund for the remaining days. Each refund request is reviewed on a case-by-case basis at Spotify's discretion.
If you believe you were charged in error, experienced an unauthorized payment, or were double-billed, you can contact Spotify Support to request a review. Spotify's terms note a 14-day cooling-off period for new purchases in certain regions, though using the service during that window may void the right to a refund.
If your subscription was billed through Apple or Google Play, Spotify cannot process the refund. You must submit your request to Apple Support or Google Play Help instead. Refunds for retail gift cards must be handled by the store where the card was purchased.
