How to Cancel Netflix

·8 min read

Step-by-step instructions to cancel your Netflix subscription on the web, iOS, Android, Roku, Amazon, and PayPal. Takes about 10 minutes.

Cancel Netflix in under 10 minutes. Pick the method that matches how you subscribed.

On Netflix.com

The most common way to cancel Netflix is directly through their website. You can cancel anytime, and your subscription will remain active until the end of your current billing period.

1Go to Netflix Website
Open your web browser and navigate to netflix.com. Make sure you're using a computer or mobile browser, as this is the most reliable method for account management.
2Sign In to Your Account
Click Sign In in the top right corner and enter your email address and password. If you have multiple profiles, you'll be taken to the profile selection screen after signing in.
3Access Your Account Settings
Hover over or tap your profile icon in the top right corner of the screen. From the dropdown menu, select Account to access your account settings page.
4Find the Membership Section
On the Account page, scroll down to the Membership & Billing section. You'll see your current plan details, next billing date, and payment information displayed here.
5Click Cancel Membership
Click the Cancel Membership button located in the Membership & Billing section. Netflix may show you options to change your plan or pause your membership instead — ignore these if you want to fully cancel.
6Confirm Your Cancellation
Review the cancellation details showing when your access will end. Click Finish Cancellation to complete the process. You'll receive a confirmation email, and you can continue watching until your billing period ends.
These steps reflect the Netflix website as of the last update. Netflix may change their interface at any time. If you can't find a specific option, visit the Netflix Help Center for current instructions.

On the App Store (iOS)

Netflix cannot be canceled from the Netflix app. You need to go through Apple's subscription settings.
1Open iPhone Settings
Tap the Settings app on your iPhone or iPad home screen. This is the gray gear icon that comes pre-installed on all iOS devices.
2Tap Your Apple ID
At the very top of the Settings menu, tap your name and Apple ID banner. This will take you to your Apple ID account management screen.
3Select Subscriptions
Tap Subscriptions from the list of options. You'll see all active and expired subscriptions linked to your Apple ID displayed here.
4Select Netflix
Find and tap Netflix from your list of active subscriptions. If you don't see Netflix listed, your subscription isn't billed through Apple.
5Cancel the Subscription
Tap Cancel Subscription at the bottom of the screen, then confirm when prompted. Your Netflix access will continue until the end of your current billing period.
Apple's subscription management interface may vary between iOS versions. These steps apply to iOS 16 and later. For older versions, go to Settings, then iTunes & App Store, then tap your Apple ID, then Subscriptions.

On Google Play (Android)

1Open Google Play Store
Launch the Google Play Store app on your Android phone or tablet. You can also visit play.google.com/store/account/subscriptions in a web browser.
2Access Your Profile
Tap your profile icon in the top right corner of the Play Store. This will open a menu with various account options.
3Go to Payments & Subscriptions
Select Payments & subscriptions from the menu, then tap Subscriptions. You'll see a list of all your active Google Play subscriptions.
4Select Netflix
Find and tap Netflix from your subscriptions list. If Netflix isn't listed, your subscription is billed through a different method.
5Cancel Your Subscription
Tap Cancel subscription and follow the on-screen prompts to confirm. Your access continues until the current billing cycle ends, and you won't be charged again.
If you subscribed through a mobile carrier or third-party billing, canceling through Google Play won't work. Contact your carrier directly or cancel at netflix.com/account.

On Roku

1Visit Roku Website
Open a web browser and go to my.roku.com. Sign in with the email and password associated with your Roku account.
2Access Manage Subscriptions
Once logged in, click on Manage your subscriptions or navigate to the subscriptions section. You'll see all services billed through your Roku account.
3Find and Cancel Netflix
Locate Netflix in your subscription list and click Cancel subscription. Confirm your cancellation when prompted — your access remains until the billing period ends.
If you don't see Netflix in your Roku subscriptions, your Netflix billing is handled directly by Netflix or another platform. Cancel at netflix.com/account instead.

Through PayPal

1Log In to PayPal
Go to paypal.com and sign in to your account. You can also use the PayPal mobile app on your phone.
2Access Settings
Click the gear icon in the top right corner to access your account settings. On mobile, tap your profile icon and then Settings.
3Find Automatic Payments
Click on Payments in the menu, then select Manage automatic payments. This shows all merchants authorized to charge your PayPal.
4Cancel Netflix Agreement
Find Netflix in the list and click on it. Click Cancel to stop future automatic payments. Also cancel directly on netflix.com to ensure your account is properly closed.
Canceling through PayPal stops future charges but does not cancel your Netflix account. Always confirm cancellation at netflix.com/account as well.

Netflix Refund Policy

Netflix generally does not offer refunds for partial billing periods. When you cancel, your access continues until the end of the current billing cycle — you are not charged again, but you also do not receive a prorated refund for unused days.

However, Netflix may issue refunds in some cases:

  • If you were charged after successfully canceling, contact Netflix support with your cancellation confirmation.
  • If your account was charged without your authorization, report it through the Netflix Help Center or dispute the charge with your bank.
  • Netflix occasionally offers refunds at their discretion for billing errors or service issues.

If you subscribed through Apple, Google Play, or Roku, refund policies of those platforms apply instead. Contact Apple Support, Google Play Help, or Roku Support respectively.
