Do I keep my certificates after canceling?

Yes. All certificates you earned while your subscription was active remain in your Coursera account permanently. You can still share them on LinkedIn or download them at any time after cancellation.

Can I get a refund after canceling?

What is the difference between Coursera Plus monthly and annual?

Can I pause my subscription anstatt canceling?

Coursera does not currently offer a built-in pause feature. However, Coursera may present a pause or discount option as a retention offer when you begin the cancellation process. If you decline, you can always resubscribe later.

How do I know if I subscribed through Apple or Google?

Check your email for past Coursera receipts. If your receipts come from Apple or Google rather than Coursera, your subscription is billed through that platform. You can also check the Subscriptions section in your iPhone Settings or Google Play Store to see if Coursera appears there.

Can I cancel a free trial?

Yes. If you are on a Coursera Plus free trial, you can cancel at any time before the trial ends to avoid being charged. Follow the same cancellation steps above. If you cancel during the trial, you may lose access immediately rather than at the end of the trial period.

What happens to my course progress after canceling?

Your course progress, grades, and completed assignments are saved in your Coursera account even after cancellation. If you resubscribe later, you can pick up where you left off. However, you cannot access graded assignments or earn new certificates without an active subscription.

How do I cancel a specialization subscription?

If you subscribed to an individual specialization (not Coursera Plus), the cancellation process is the same. Go to My Purchases, find the specialization subscription, and click Cancel. This stops future monthly charges for that specialization.

What if Coursera keeps charging me after I cancel?

Check your email for a cancellation confirmation. 1Sign In to Coursera

Open your web browser and go to coursera.org. Sign in with the email address and password associated with your account. If you use single sign-on through Google, Facebook, or Apple, select the corresponding option.

2Open My Purchases

Click your profile icon in the top right corner of the page, then select My Purchases from the dropdown menu. You can also navigate directly to coursera.org/my-purchases.

3Find Your Subscription

Locate your active subscription — this will be labeled Coursera Plus (monthly or annual) or the name of a specific specialization or professional certificate subscription. Active subscriptions display your next billing date.

4Click Cancel

Click the Cancel link next to the subscription you want to end. If you have multiple active subscriptions, you need to cancel each one separately.

5Choose a Reason

Coursera will ask why you are canceling. Select a reason from the list. Coursera may present a retention offer such as a discounted rate or a temporary pause — decline these if you want to fully cancel.

6Confirm Cancellation

Coursera Plus vs. Individual Courses

Coursera offers two main types of paid products, and they work differently when it comes to cancellation:

Coursera Plus (subscription): This is a recurring subscription — either monthly or annual — that gives you unlimited access to most courses, specializations, and professional certificates on the platform. This is what you cancel using the steps above.

Individual course purchases: If you paid a one-time fee to enroll in a single course or specialization (without Coursera Plus), there is no recurring charge to cancel. You can request a refund within 14 days of payment or before earning a certificate, whichever comes first. After that, the purchase is final and no further charges occur.

Guided Projects: These are low-cost, short-format courses with a one-time payment. Guided Projects are not refundable and do not involve a recurring subscription.

Free courses (audit mode): If you are auditing a course for free, there is nothing to cancel. You can simply stop accessing the course at any time.

Coursera Erstattungsrichtlinie

Coursera's refund policy varies by product type:

Coursera Plus (monthly or annual): You can request a full refund within 14 days of your initial purchase. After this 14-day window closes, no refund is available — but your access continues until the end of your paid billing period. For the annual plan, this means you keep access through the end of your prepaid year even after canceling.

Individual courses and specializations: Coursera offers a full refund within 14 days of payment, as long as you have not yet earned a course certificate. Once you earn a certificate, the refund window closes immediately regardless of how many days have passed.

Guided Projects: No refunds are available for Guided Projects.

Degree programs: Refund policies for Coursera degree programs are set by the individual university, not by Coursera. Check with your university's registrar or program office for their specific policy.

Refunds typically take 7 to 10 business days to process back to your original payment method. If your subscription was billed through Apple or Google Play, you must request the refund through the respective platform — Coursera cannot process refunds for third-party billing.
